Reconstruction of two buildings in under-way on the ISM University campus in Vilnius. Both buildings are owned by the Vilnius Archdiocese. Several years ago the Archdiocese had promised ISM University that the Church would establish a cafeteria / student centre on the ISM campus. To date there is no cafeteria or student centre on the ISM Campus. Yet once construction began, the Church forgot their promise and instead decided to lease the building as a bar-restaurant, for tourists and the general public – bringing maximum profit to the Archdiocese . The Church‘s driver is ‚profit‘ and not student wellness or needs.
We are hopeful that the Vilnius Archdiocese will show by their actions that students‘ well-being is more important than Church profits & that the Archdiocese will establish a student centre / cafeteria in the newly renovated building on the ISM campus. Thus far the Church has ignored numerous appeals LT Campus, the community and the Old Town citizens association. The time has come for the Archdiocese to make the right choice – to create a student centre with an alcohol free cafeteria in the new building on the ISM University campus.
Please spread the word about our initiative. With your help our message will reach the Archdiocese and community at large.
We invite you to read about meetings with the Archdiocese regarding this matter:
